INRICHING THE PLANET WITH WORLD CLASS BEATS

Aside from the usual mad tales of getting stuck on electronic music (amongst many other genres including rock and jazz) from a very young age, going to clubs and getting into trouble I have indeed done other things in my life. After questioning for years why I went through many of the things I did and chose so many of the options I have I am now reflecting on things that got me to this point. For every time I was called a dreamer I am now so thankful that I dared to dream, and for every time that I found myself at my lowest moments I am grateful that through those experiences I am now able to value my successes. I see the influencing periods of my existence and now see how the pieces fall into place as the cards fall. And I have a royal flush!

I am looking towards my 30th birthday in early February 2010 and I can see how my life has finally come together to make some sense. This by no means indicates that things are easy, that I have become financially secure to match my dreams through my commitment, that I no longer face challenges (in fact there are many and many more to come) or that I can now sit back and take it easy while I watch as Inrichmint goes from strength to strength. The voyage has only just begun and will require even more commitment, dedication, passion and hard work than ever before but finally there is clarity I can see how the goals I set, foundations I laid and the concepts I have built over the past few years are finally being recognised and far beyond my wildest dreams. The skills I thought where useless have in fact found a place and I have found my purpose beyond being a mother and supporting child related organisations.

Inrichmint has worked harder than ever over the past 2 years to reach higher, go further with the intention of positively influencing the lives of others, except our focus has shifted into the music industry and community development. This is not how Inrichmint was intended to pan out when it was established in 2007 and from when it was started the journey that unfolded to get to this point has been quite extreme. The 5 year plan we had when we registered the Inrichmint name and the 5 year plan we have for it now are total polar opposites, 5 years ago I wouldn’t have believed that my life would be going in this direction and that I would actually be both in love with what I do and be good at it. I never imagined that music would become the basis of my career. It was hardly a reality in my life or even considered as a career I would be successful in.

The concept for Inrichmint initially started off completely focused on the corporate sector and it is only thanks to my personal life experiences and huge choices not to mention massive risks I took both good and bad through the late 90s and throughout the naughties (better known as the 00s) that I can now reflect and look to my future and that of Inrichmint with the firm belief that this is what I am built for. I have made a million mistakes but this is how we learn, we learn to get up and do something about it. If you fall you learn to get up and do it again, I suppose you train yourself on how to take the knocks in life, because there will be knocks. But through this experience I think many of us come to recognise that when something just feels right. It comes naturally and you find how everything you have ever done just has a place.

I am proud of what we have achieved and where I have taken Inrichmint over the past few years and cannot say that I feel an ounce of regret for the career choices I made to bring me to this. I am doing things I never thought possible and achieving things I never knew I could. What was never a reality and something I only dreamt of has become a part of my life through a combination of things including keeping an open mind, thinking out of the box and being brave enough to dare almost anything. The challenges I have faced over the past 15 years I see as stepping stones, a life lesson or what I then thought was a stupid mistake I would never have been moulded into what I am today or have the opportunities that I now do.

Although the story of where I began with a passion for electronic beats fused with live performances and massive dance events really does go back a little more than 3 years if you want to look at the history. I would say we are looking at around a 15 year adventure, lesson, journey and experience of life. It’s an account of how life can bring you 360 degrees and put you in a completely different place to where you started having equip you for what’s to come through the choices we make, the actions we take and prepares you for handling a career and lifestyle which is demanding, requires commitment and essentially requires dedication but without life experience it can’t be maintained.

My love for music and children combined with the desire to inrich people’s lives positively through music while influencing the lives of children through community development have brought me to this place in my life. Where nothing truly made sense before and the deep stemmed reasons behind why I had chosen to do half the things I had in my life I could not explain I have reached a point in my life where I can now see how the cliché ‘everything happens for a reason’ rings so very true in my life. Every choice I have made and life changing experiences I have faced has given me the life lessons and tools which now make the foundation for what started off as a social experiment and that later developed into my life’s dream.

My working experience at 25 when I fell pregnant with my son, Nathyn included working in human resources and accounts where I gained a certificate in VIP Payroll systems managing the salaries and wages for a hotel while I assisted the Personnel Manager. I have worked a string of restaurants, for various events and in a number of clubs or cocktail lounges working busy bars. I threw my own parties which involved with décor, sound, DJ line up, location and coordination. I worked, had fun, spent money although I didn’t make too much and listened to some incredible music, danced till the sun came up and I had backed myself with a degree from the university of life and a course with the school of hard knocks when I qualified as a counsellor shortly after my son was born in 2005.

Inrichmint probably was sparked by the love for electronic dance music throughout my teens played in warehouses, garages and house parties all over South Africa as an international craze hit the country in a huge way. Later it was fuelled on as I started with small and unnamed and unbranded house parties & a handful of outdoor parties in Cape Town, South Africa, in early 2002 and officially branded ourselves in 2007 focusing on corporate gigs and events. I spent the majority of late teen years and my 20s somewhere between 3 cities in South Africa and many years working in night clubs and cocktail lounges in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.

With a focus in the corporate sector of team building, self empowerment and personal development training together with corporate eventing it didn’t really feel anything like the wicked after hour’s house parties and camping weekends consisting of dancing in the dirt under the African sun, not by a long shot. Instead I found myself split between becoming a mother and working hours on something which I knew I wasn’t in love with, but I definitely didn’t hate it. I then started writing training material for a Pretoria (SA) based company providing training material for government and corporate training based on personal development and self empowerment concepts. We were doing corporate events and functions from team building, directors’ business development, and stress management. By this point I was no longer feeling positive about working with street children, addicts and orphans hands on, but was by no means pulling away. Fundraising and promotion was something I would rather focus on, ones heart can also only handle so much in one life time.
I had a partner in Inrichmint at the time and was a qualified counsellor by trade and now independently writing corporate empowerment programs while together we worked on landing deals and selling our service and skills to the corporate market.

Being involved in counselling and community work has always been a passion and through this Kilimanjaro 4 Kids was born. Working with street children and orphans was something that I was involved in from a young age. The realisation came to the end of 2007 with the Director literally stuck in the UK and away from the city that without doing what I love and finding my purpose in life I will never be happy. I returned to South Africa in March 2008 at which point I re-registered Inrichmint’s holding company to focus on electronic music. I had no idea that in a space of 2 years I would find myself in a position that far surpasses my wildest dreams or that I would essentially fall in love with an industry, a lifestyle and a chosen career. I thought I loved music until I started living it, then I more than adored it, it became me.

After returning from England I was determined to make a change in my life, because whatever it was I had been doing up until that point was clearly not working. I asked myself 3 simple questions. First, What do I love doing? Second, where is my biggest network? Thirdly what am I good at doing? And combined it should give me some sort of answer as to what I am supposed to do with my life. I knew 2 things for sure. One, I am not going to counsel anyone. And two, I am not staying in corporate but I also had no idea what I was actually going to do either. I knew that first off I loved music and that secondly my biggest net work lay in music, lifestyle and nightlife, fashion and film. And then last but not least I am good as coordination, research and social environments, beats and most things in between. I understood how that operated from cocktails bars to bmp.

Over the past few years we have done events mostly in the beautiful South African city of Cape Town with attendance of a good few hundred people turn out at selected smaller venues and lounges around the city, keeping us intimate locals with a twist. Between the start of 2008 and now with 2009 drawing to a close the company took on additional divisions including artist management & brand management for the likes of Blend and recently Eden Ibiza who will be joining the Inrichmint crew on World Tour in 2010. Inrichmint now launches a record label together with a film division in London where we premier a music video by one of the most talented duos, Christopher Wilde & Lu Chase who have been actively involved with Kilimanjaro 4 Kids through their music and Inrichmint Events. We currently work locally in South Africa with an amazing team that includes the PA/AV Company that have worked with the likes of SA sensation Gold Fish, Armin Van Buuren for Gods Kitchen and so many others.

Inrichmint is essentially a global electronic music solutions company that strives to bring to the world top class electronic music through various platforms.
Inrichmint was born purely focused on promotions. We went ahead and planned a summer season in South Africa taking global electronic music to 3 major cities over the course of a 6 month summer season. It meant top class electronic music and an opportunity to show case South Africa’s finest talents, venues and crowds. It took months of work and coordination with the date set for the first event at Karma Lounge on the Camp’s Bay Strip right on the beach front. This Karma Lounge gig was set to launch Inrichmint as a brand and kick off what was to be South Africa’s most supreme summer season for the electronic music scene. We had a corporate sponsor line up together with a promoter from South America for funding and the summer was looking sensational. After running my own parties for years and knowing so many of the electronic music talents, names and party destinations I quickly learn how things operate on an international level.

Inrichmint Artist Management is the Inrichmint division that has become better known as I Am. The I Am Artists as a collective are a group of musicians and DJs we work with predominantly on an exclusive basis, while there are a handful of them that remain non exclusive. Inrichmint Artist Management have selected the best of these and combined them with those talents we endorse and support to add to the Inrichmint I AM artists roster. Between them there is experience that spreads over the past two decades of dance music and they have taken their skills to countless countries on all continents with some of them individually having played over 22 countries while collectively closer on 30. As a collective they have over a century’s worth of experience and have entertained crowds of up to 1000000 at the Love Parade and 10s of 1000s more over the years on the white isle of Ibiza.

Inrichmint Tours is the brand management division of Freer Productions, better known as, simply, Inrichmint. Inrichmint represents some of the world’s leading brands in the music, lifestyle, clubbing and nightlife. Collectively these brands have seen the shores of close on 30 odd countries and entertained in a world class fashion over a million people. As a collective I think that is pretty impressive. Inrichmint selected to work with brands that offer amazing entertainment through packaged deals. Inrichmint represents various well known brands on our tours roster. These brands are associated with different nights and clubs from various parts of the world. Inrichmint being a Global Electronic Music Solutions Company not only focuses on the management of artists but handles a certain aspect of club related brand management. This enables us to take to clubs and promoters from around the world quality entertainment for a target market who lap up various styles of electronic music with delight. Bigger nights are associated with the various international brand names on our roster, and equally true in terms of the artists associated with the nights they run between them.

Inrichmint Reelz & Studio focuses on the filming and post production of music related film and studio quality photography. We also consult for Woolhouse Studios which supply us will outstanding events photography and design work from print marketing to album artwork. We have in house film crew from directors to production assistants and producers, sound engineers, music directors and cameramen all of whom film history so therefore collectively make a well experienced crew who produce outstanding results. Our crew includes camera experience with the BBC through to Director and Social Experiment Professional Daniel who in 2009 won the Toronto Urban Film Festival. Our film and stills crews are a combination of Woolhouse Studios and Inrichmint Reelz finest who together provide quality production.

Special Assignment is the division of Inrichmint focused on community upliftment and development and supports child related organisations. In the case of ‘I AM ON A WORLD TOUR’ we focus on the Kilimanjaro 4 Kids project run by Inrichmint that supports the international organisation SOS Children’s Villages.

Climbing mountains (I mean actually climbing them) to raise funds for less fortunate kids is the focal point of this exercise. We will take a group of more fortunate' people with us up Kilimanjaro for a worthwhile cause. Music industry related people, extreme sports professionals, adventurers and the likes, from all over the world, will team together to make a difference and make this world a better place. With the help of sponsors and an amazing crew this project will change the lives of so many people.

Inrichmint through ‘I AM ON A WORLD TOUR’ will create massive international exposure around the project and raise funds for the initiative throughout the world. The events will donate a percentage to the cause and it is through such an amazing campaign that it will bring us one step closer to realising the dream of giving away a substantial amount of money to support a worthwhile international child focused and related organisation. SOS Children’s Villages do amazing work around the world and it only through people like all of us who financially support their organisation and help in spreading the world that they are able to continue doing just that.
The Kilimanjaro leg of ‘I AM ON A WORLD TOUR’ will be documented as a special feature for the series and is where we end our journey of 63 countries. It is here where we make the sacrifice to climb mountains for others. Kilimanjaro 4 Kids is the finale to an incredible world tour that will not only take music and skills around the world but do it with the underlining current that we have are supporting the community.

The distance which Inrichmint has developed and grown over the past few years astounds and amazes me. I cannot believe where my life has taken me partly based on trusting my intuition and partly on being daring enough to take life full on and run with it. I live my dream everyday and yet I know that my life has only just begun.

Since starting back in 2001 Blend has hosted parties at a number of venues. The home in Derby was the iconic Gatehouse club but we have also done events in Ibiza including El Divino, Eden, Bora Bora... Across the UK we have done Sankeys, Ministry, and Gatecrasher. Currently we have two franchises... one in Dubai at Chi and a bi-monthly at Thompsons in Belfast. Attendance.....?? Over the years this has been anything from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand depending on the talent and venue. We've been averaging 700 at our weekly residency in derby since September last year. Having worked with artists as well known as Pete Tong, Hoxton Whores and K Klass making them strong contenders in the electronic music scene.

Big In Ibiza hosts their own nights and events in conjunction with MiMo at Pacha (London), Eden (Ibiza) and Lightbox (London) amongst others (The highest attendances for these have been 750 and 600). Also have run own branded events at Suga Qube (Brighton) and Bar Mango (Reading). Big In Ibiza is a record label and club events brand fast gaining international respect and releasing some of the best music from the UK and seasons spent on the White Isle of Ibiza. With brands like Pacha, Eden and Ministry behind these boys who could go wrong. Inrichmint, in South Africa, started with small and unnamed house parties, outdoor parties and basement parties in early 2002 and officially branded ourselves in 2007. Headliners we are looking at are Smokey Jo and Hoxton Whores which are not yet confirmed, we are looking into having a top international sax player, Lady V, who has toured internationally with Head Candi and a live vocalist, Amber Jolene, who currently works with Timo Garcia and also not yet confirmed.

Inrichmint celebrates the release of 2 charity compilation albums with contributions by various artists from around the world. “Tech Affair’ is mixed up by Chris Mackie (UK) and the ‘Real House Antix’ album is mixed by the God Father of Soulful House Victor Simonelli (US). Antonio Vendone and Paul Layman from Blend (UK) contributing to the ‘Tech Affair’ album and co hosting the Inrichmint Recordings Launch Party that will bring Inrichmint Productions (SA) to London in a banging way.

The night will also premier a music video out of Inrichmint Reelz, the film division within Inrichmint (Freer Productions), from one of the exclusive tracks on the “Real House Antix’ Album. The track itself is produced by Christopher Wilde ft vocalist Lu Chase. Directed by Jacqueline Freer and Produced by AKSP Motion Pictures. We will be launching the Phunkbomb.com clothing line on the night with a modelling photo shoot to top it all off. With a fantastic team of people, an amazing line up that improves by the day and on one of the best party days of the year, who can go wrong. Promo girls and promotional giveaways add cherries.

We will be doing online PR and Marketing as well as print marketing including 20000 flyers for shop drops and city club stops. Artwork is with the designers as we speak. Big In Ibiza has been brought in as a sub promoter and will look at pushing the night from that angle. We will be inviting press as well as doing selected comps by guest list for the night. Your question is from your side: Can they bring the feet through the door? My answer to this is simple: YES!

In terms of music style, Inrichmint Recordings does not want to be associated with any particular genre of electronic music, we only want to become know for releasing quality music therefore we cover genres including minimal, tech house, funk, funky house, deep house, soulful house, bigroom, down tempo, tribal, fidget, DnB, Dub Step, electro which means the label is able to reach a wide market and with the backing of our distributors we know we are able to cover international and global territories.

INRICHMINT RECORDINGS LAUNCHING SOON!

Since starting back in 2001 Blend has hosted parties at a number of venues. The home in Derby was the iconic Gatehouse club but we have also done events in Ibiza including El Divino, Eden, Bora Bora... Across the UK we have done Sankeys, Ministry, and Gatecrasher. Currently we have two franchises... one in Dubai at Chi and a bi-monthly at Thompsons in Belfast. Attendance.....?? Over the years this has been anything from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand depending on the talent and venue. We've been averaging 700 at our weekly residency in derby since September last year. Having worked with artists as well known as Pete Tong, Hoxton Whores and K Klass making them strong contenders in the electronic music scene.

Big In Ibiza hosts their own nights and events in conjunction with MiMo at Pacha (London), Eden (Ibiza) and Lightbox (London) amongst others (The highest attendances for these have been 750 and 600). Also have run own branded events at Suga Qube (Brighton) and Bar Mango (Reading). Big In Ibiza is a record label and club events brand fast gaining international respect and releasing some of the best music from the UK and seasons spent on the White Isle of Ibiza. With brands like Pacha, Eden and Ministry behind these boys who could go wrong.

Inrichmint, in South Africa, started with small and unnamed house parties, outdoor parties and basement parties in early 2002 and officially branded ourselves in 2007. Over the past few years we have done events mostly in the beautiful South African city of Cape Town with attendance of a good few hundred people turn out at selected smaller venues and lounges around the city, keeping us intimate locals with a twist. Between the start of 2008 and now with 2009 drawing to a close the company took on additional divisions including brand management for the likes of Blend and recently Eden Ibiza who will be joining the Inrichmint crew on World Tour in 2010. Inrichmint is currently negotiating licenses with Cream for Cream SA. Inrichmint now launches a record label together with a film division in London where we premier a music video by one of the most talented duos I have come across.We currently work locally in South Africa with an amazing team that includes the PA/AV company that have worked with the likes of SA sensation Gold Fish, Armin Van Buuren for Gods Kitchen and so many others.

MY PASSION PROJECT AND POINT OF VIEW - K4K

After manically spending my year focused on my business and almost single handily trying to come up with the funding for Kilimanjaro 4 Kids, bar a handful of participants who have actively gotten involved in looking at options for sponsorship it has been one hell of a year and we not nearly over yet. The global economic crisis has not helped matters with international corporate giants and private concerns holding onto cash with everything they got, some of these business and individuals actually going bang or worse still totally going for broke. I have to consider myself extremely lucky and better still blessed when I listen to some of the stories that come of a financial crisis, and more so when I think about why I started this Initiative in the first place, to support organisations focused on children in need.

Due to the lack of funding we have no choice but to once again postpone our trip to Tanzania until further notice. We are not prepared to set a definite date until we have acquired the funding but at this stage it will look like some time closer to the end of next year when it is once again summer in Africa. It would be impossible for me to clear funding by the end of this coming summer at this rate, but with new budgets that open in the New Year and with myself travelling to London in October this year to set up meetings with ITV, BBC and MTV for sale of series and documentary based around certain aspects of this project we may well have the funding for this by next summer. It isn’t suggested that we climb this mountain during the African winter.

When we finally get the sale of this footage and film production through Inrichmint Reelz, Inrichmint as a company may just be able to cover the cost of this adventure instead of depending on corporate or outside sponsorship to make it possible. However, Rome was not built in a day, but when it was finally built what a city it made. As much as I am disappointed that I am not able to make this happen when I want it to I know that good things come to those who wait and that determination is key, no matter what it takes.

At this stage I feel that I have had one challenge after another with this project and I am constantly tested through disappointments and time restrictions, but I am not the kind of person who gives up. In fact with every test and challenge it only drives me harder to make sure this happens even if it does take me another year. After 3 years of working to make this happen I really feel that one more year will not kill me. I would much rather be properly prepared and backed by the right people who are dedicated than to be ill organised thereby not only putting other people at risk but also setting this project up for failure. I want it to be successful and achieve my goal by making my dream of giving a million away to charity a reality.

Kilimanjaro 4 Kids is for me a labour of love and a passion project I am not prepared to give up on and will do what ever it takes to make sure it receives the right support globally, create as much exposure as possible, and get people involved who truly want to be a part of an amazing concept, venture, adventure and idea that essentially is based on selfless action. I feel that there are people who have opted to support and participate in this project who in fact do nothing to make it happen, not even so much as a phone call an email or a word of support. How badly do you want to be part of this is my question to you? I know one thing … Kilimanjaro 4 Kids is something I believe in with all my heart and a concept I have spent many years working on, it mean more to me than most of you can even begin to comprehend.

I suggest one thing to each and every one of you, and I mean this with absolute love and it comes for a good place, think about whether or not you are prepared to commit the time to this initiative, dedicate a part of yourself, and earn your way to an amazing experience. There are some of you who are involved in side projects supporting this cause including producers who have donated music and skills for international albums which will be released later this year. Some of you are actively helping promote it as much as possible though your networks and yet others have done nothing more than add your name to a list or make empty promises. Your space on this trip is not a free ride, everyone earns there place and the privilege to be a part of an amazing team with a common goal.

This is not about ego, it is not about pride, it is not a holiday and it should not be about you. This is something you should be prepared to do for someone else, and that someone else is not me, it is total stranger, a child. This child may be ill, orphaned, abused, in need of eduction, adoption, and medical treatment or counselling. These children over all are meant to be the future, and it’s with them that we can start making this world right, because at this rate we are heading from some serious trouble. If I can make the smallest difference in the today, then I have made this world a better place to live in, and I can only hope that you people feel that same passion and deep driven desire that I do. No one said this is going to be easy and I really didn’t expect it to be, but I am sure going to try and try again. I am a persistent, driven, motivated and determined human being. I will never stop.

Please write me back with your thoughts on this and where you stand on the agenda of Kilimanjaro 4 Kids. I have here in this note stated clearly my feelings and expectations, in a way that to some of you may seem sharp and direct, but that was my intention and I am truly sorry if you are offended by this, but I felt it important to voice myself. This letter also serves to inform you of the postponement of the trip to Tanzania until further notice. This by no means the project draws to a close or comes to an end, in fact it gives more time for preparation mentally, emotionally, physically and financially and thereby I am reminded that everything happens for a reason.

For all of those people involved including the hotel in Tanzania, our guides, our travel agents, I am so sorry this is has to be postponed once again. It saddens me that I disappoint time and time again when I know that I have done everything in my power to make this possible and obviously the time is not right. To our competition winners, most of this would not apply to you and this serves purely as notice for your information. To all of you who have made a contribution on one way or another to date I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart and with every breath I have, you will never know how much it means to me. A special thank you to those few of you how have been my total support and my rock through this, you have been there and tried as hard as I have, and for this I will be forever and eternally grateful.

Hey Guys

Here is a letter I received this morning inviting Inrichmint and our network to become part of an online dance project hosted by the Sydney Opera House. The project is focused on the art of dance. With Inrichmint Dance Studio that creates a network focused around that form of expression this is an opportunity for those skilled in that arena to get involved with something truly amazing and possibly preform live at the Sydney Opera House.

Inrichmint Dance Studio is the other half of Inrichmint Artist Management (I AM). Inrichmint, as a company, is focused on Global Electronic Music Solutions and is dedicated to providing world class entertainment through music and dance.

These dance studios and dancers are what have started the ball rolling with Inrichmint Dance Studio. Together with artists and brands from around the world we have a roster of dance that can be set on stage and platform for any given night.

Recordings Graphic Art Competition

Inrichmint Recordings is later this year releasing 3 charity albums from which the proceeds will go to support the Inrichmint Kilimanjaro 4 Kids initiative that focuses on aiding child related organisations in South Africa. These 3 albums are all compilations with a number of exclusive tracks and in 3 electronic music genres. Music has been donated by artists and producers from around the world and will be released internationally and available through various online music stores.

We are looking for one design for each of those albums that we will use as the album art for these releases. Your work will be seen by countless people around the world and you will be taking up an opportunity to get involved with an amazing concept while supporting a worthwhile cause. This creates a way for people with various skills to be able to contribute to a cause and make a difference.

Artwork needs to be suitable for CD (Print) and Web. All artwork needs to be created using professional graphic design software although the artist does not have to be a professional graphic designer. High Quality work needs to be submitted and it needs to be your own original work, copies of other artists work will not be accepted. THE PURPOSE OF ME

THIS IS ANOTHER MOMENT IN MY LIFE THAT ACTS AS A DECIDING FACTOR IN TERMS OF WHERE MY CAREER WILL GO FROM HERE, WHETHER OR NOT I NEED TO STUDY MY CURRENT POSITION LONGER OR MOVE ONTO BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS. OBVIOUSLY WITH LOOKING AT 30 IN A FEW MONTHS, BEING A BUSINESS OWNER AND AFTER 3 YEARS OF GOING WITH THE MOTIONS OF A CAREER CHANGE I WOULD BE HOPING TO EXPAND SOONER THAN LATER, ACHIEVING MY PERSONAL GOALS BY LANDING THE DEAL, CONTRACT OR CONVERSATION OF A LIFE TIME.

So here I will share with you some of the thoughts and expereinces in my life. Some pictures and some picture perfect memories, some not so picture perfect recolations and my purpose. I recall events that I feel played a role in where I am today and stand in awe of how amazing life and God is! I am wowed by how life will simply take you where you are meant to be and I watch as the pieces fall into place and my life starts to make some sort of sense. What for many years felt like a span of loose ends and threads of extremly different expereinces has some how begun to make perfect sense as it settles and finds its role and purpose in my life.

I look back over my life and as flashes from memory spark emotions in me I see how things fall into place and after 15 years of asking myself why I had done this or that, it becomes absolutely clear why I needed to go through certain phases of my life in order to equip me for where I need to go now. The kind of lessons collectively that one can not learn over night or even in the time that it takes you to get a single degree, by this point I would have had the equivalent of a doctorate or 4 individual degrees. Things which after the fact seemed a pointless exercise that was in fact destructive and detrimental now in even further hind sight seems the best education I can have to best understand what it is that I now need to do, what I will need to deal with and in extreme cases have to cope with.

It points out to me how invaluable life experience is in terms of educating yourself. Make no mistake a good education is a blessing but education in terms of any form of schooling is important and a human right (that in many countries can still only be bought) but no amount of money can buy life experience. Living. Risking. Passion. Some of the lessons we learn through living life to the max with the intention of receiving a degree from the university of life can not be taught or learnt in any book. There is a T Shirt in the world that reads 'University of Hard Knocks' and I prefer not to think that I have been knocked but rather that I have been taught that which is truly priceless.

Growing up as a teenager I started clubbing at a young age and was introduced to electronic music at around the age of 13 or 14. I knew exactly what records where, I grew up in a house hold where there were plenty, I turned them over time and time again. Although those records came from a collection including Pink Floyd, Rodriguez, Cat Stevens and so many others. Christmas at my Grandmother’s house consisted of Boney M’s Christmas Carols on Vinyl. I knew what commercial dance music was and obviously knew it as pop music but here were these guys putting on a tape and telling me that there are people that play dance music I had never even heard constructed that way before off records and there is this thing called the ‘Rave Scene” and they having this party in a warehouse on the weekend.

I went to that party in that warehouse at around age 14 or so. I had a lot of guy friends and most of my friends where a whole lot older than me, by grand 11 most of my friends had left school. It was easy for me getting into clubs and parties with them and it was defiantly fun at the time but I also knew that they were there looking out for me. A lot of the time guys would have a hard time talking to me without one of my friends stepping into the conversation, and looking back at it now, thankfully so. It was actually not the environment for a 14 or 15 year old girl at all. It did make me grow up a little faster and I was exposed to a lot of things from a very young age, and not that I would change it. I am not a victim and if anyone ever kept me hostage it was myself. I have not always been my own best friend.

I left home at a very young age and that gave me the ‘chance’ to do what ever, which in most cases isn’t a good thing when a youngster takes on that much freedom. I do try and tell the younger guys and girls not to wish away the good things and to remember that mothers really do know best a lot of the time, doesn’t mean all the time. I feel in love with various styles of electronic music from Goa Trance to Funky House. The dance scene in South Africa exploded and I threw myself right into the middle of it. I become friendly with the staff and regulars at my favourite clubs and had many DJ friends over the years. I loved the music and the lifestyle, sometimes the lifestyle a little too much.

Life from 1995 to around 1998 is fairly fragmented in memory from loving the lifestyle a little too much, but I can say one thing that the memories I do have are some of the best memories of my life but with that there is the extreme and the flip side of that coin because with it came some serious times too. I was a teenager but I was probably any parents nightmare, don’t get me wrong there are far severe cases but I know it couldn’t have been any walk in the park. Do I regret anything I have done in my life? Very little, I would be lying if I said no, but it comes pretty dam close. I am truely sorry for what I put my family through over the years but other than that there is very little that I would change based on the amount that I have learnt over the years. I went on to qualify myself as a therapist with a Diploma in Counselling Skills, Personal Development Training with LifeLife, Palliative Care and Counselling with Hospice and working with various aspects linked to the counselling process and worked a few pretty normal day jobs.

For the first half of my 20’s I didn’t quite live life as hard, make as many bad choices although I made plenty but it wasn’t exactly Hell. I got engaged to a guy I met at school who after school and I moved in with, we were together for 2 years, in 2000 I was 20 I woke up one day and thought I don’t want to be married actually and I left. I moved cities from Joburg to Cape Town in 2001. I had plenty of fun, went out a lot, worked as a waitress, had a few more office or temp jobs, I laughed, I cried, I fell in lust, I fell in love, I partied a little but it was never to the degree that I did through the 90s. I made some of the best friends I have in my life through those years in one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. Good Times and an emotional roller coaster of note.

I threw a huge house party in 2003 as a going away party for a friend of mine who was off to India for a year. It was at this party I met my son Nathyn’s father (just for a useless piece of personal information haha). Over that weekend I had around 300 or 400 people arrive at my house. I had arranged that the school next door give me the key to the sports grounds for parking, had hand delivered letters to all neighbours for blocks around that there will be a party and sorry in advance for any inconvenience but there should be no trouble and there was no so much as even a whisper from the police. The weekend left me with a few crushed couches but amazing memories, having had the best time of my life from throwing a party like that and a new found love for organising them. It was then that I realised I had a gift.

It wasn’t long before I threw an outdoor party which hand around 200 people for the weekend. It was a good one on a farm about an hours drive from Cape Town, South Africa. It was a huge learning point for me and gave me a world of knowledge in terms of how those events are managed. I made many mistakes but with that I learnt what not to do again. I have not thrown an outdoor party since but I feel something brewing for the future and see something on the horizon in the not to distant future. And for a long time after that I didn’t do much outside of private parties on a small scale and my life took me in various other directions after becoming a mother, amongst other things.

Now reflecting on the latter half of my 20 something years I never imagined even 5 years ago that I would be sitting where I am now, at this stage of my life, doing what I am doing and writing about where my life has taken me and in retrospect where it is about to take me. In fact I never in my life imagined my life as it is now ever being my reality, lifestyle or way of life. I never though my job, work or career would consist of half of what it does currently and my life now has actually taken a 360 degree turn. I never thought I would choose music and entertainment as a career, and had no intention of changing my career at the time. Working with children was all I wanted to do and as a qualified counsellor it was clear that I loved what I was doing. I knew then I wanted something to change and I couldn’t pin point it for a long while still to come.

Being a counsellor was an amazing experience and I loved working with street children. But with statistics like 1 out of every 30 kids makes something of their lives (the rest grow up to be gangsters, they get killed, die of diseases or land up in jail) my spirit could only give so much before it would break. I knew I needed to move away from the work I was doing and in 2007 I was contracted to a South African corporate training company that refused to pay me and at this point I had also just had enough. There was a lot happening in my life on a personal scale and work was not working out for me.

Nearly 3 years ago in early 2007 I registered a business called Inrichmint, focused on personal development and corporate counselling. A lot of what I did involved self empowerment techniques and stress management, conflict management, team building, communication skills, interpersonal relationships and basic business skills. Still applying most of what I had learnt through counselling and my studies I changed direction from children to corporate. I was finding it difficult to land contracts with government restrictions on teaching policy in the corporate sector and the registration process would take 18 months to complete.

2007 is the year that gave birth to what is now the product of an idea called Kilimanjaro 4 kids and what has become the basis my business and the stepping tone into what has become my career. I started working on Kilimanjaro 4 Kids which is a project that is focused on raising money through the corporate sector and fundraising initiatives as well as branding and marketing concepts. The project will give away a million to child related organisations and charities in South Africa by taking a group of professionals to climb Kilimanjaro 4 Charity. Kilimanjaro 4 Kids was put on hold until mid 2008.

At the end of 2007 I went over the England twice where I spent a total 7 months there and 1 month in SA. The easiest way to explain my experience in the UK was that I generally kept out of the cities and spent a lot of time on my own. I got home to South Africa in March 2008 with no idea of what I should do or where I should go to from there but I had had plenty of time for reflection and a firm kick up the butt to steer in me in the right direction. I had just gone through possibly one of the worst stages of my life and it was time for a healing process to begin. I spent a few weeks in Johannesburg, a week in Botswana and then went to Cape Town where I spent around 3 months. A friend of mine had come to visit from London, a DJ and was staying with me for a few days. We had an amazing time. Once he left I was geared and reaved from something to happen.

I have always known from a very little girl that I wanted to work with children or to make a difference in children’s lives. I was made aware that there are less fortunate children from a young age through my mother where by I would often clean out my cupboard and take the clothes to the children’s homes. I would collect blankets and food and hand out of the street. And right through to about 24 years old I would spend many hours day and night on the street talking to the young children. Kilimanjaro 4 Kids was something that was about to surface as I prepared to take on the mammoth task and put into action the concept I had worked on over the months before going to England but first a little musical magic had to happen.

My friends stay with me had inspired me into getting involved with music related events. My parents had just bought a shop that they were converting into a deli on the South African west coast. I decided to see if I could manage to do Sunday Sessions at the deli and moved from Cape Town to Knysna on the Garden Route. One of my most loved and favourite parts of the country for which there is a huge place in my heart, I am sure that magic happens there. I never did do the Sunday Sessions at Uncle Pats Deli what I did do that was spend 8 months working on the backbone of a company. I registered a new business as JLF PRODUCTIONS trading as INRICHMINT of which I would be the sole owner and started working on a platform for music and entertainment club events and nights.

There was very little to do in Knysna in terms of nightlife and therefore I spent a lot of my time with my son, family and working. I started networking with electronic music contacts from around the world and planning a production called the Inrichmint Summer Sessions. I had two investors line up, threw an amazing party at a top Cape Town club, Karma Lounge, to launch the Summer Sessions. The night was a huge success in many ways with a Live Online Broadcast through Good Hope FM, SA Club Sensation Iridium Project Live and people really had fun. The hype around the Summer Sessions was huge on my part and I had put myself totally out there on this one. I thought it set the perfect platform for the rest of the summer in South Africa, which was exactly the plan.

In the next week the world hit an economic crisis with the result being my investors pulling out and leaving me with a huge amount of damage control and recovery. I had two choices, I walk away or I accept the challenge and see where it takes me. I took the bull by the horns took it on the chin and slapped a grin on my face forcing myself to make the most of a really bad situation. Things slowly started to ease off as the dust settled and Kilimanjaro 4 Kids came to mind, I put the project back into action. In the beginning of 2009 I moved back to Cape Town. I had spent nearly a year working on the grounds for a consulting business within the electronic music industry and had a good foundation for Kilimanjaro 4 Kids involving the music industry in the project as much as I could at the time.

I had through the experience of organising the Inrichmint Summer Sessions, the success of the Karma Lounge night and so many of my life experiences combined fallen head over heals in an industry in such a way that it was totally by surprise and what I now like to refer to as ‘by accident’. It is the Inrichmint Summer Sessions launch at Karma lounge for which I actually owe Heidi De Sousa A LOT along with Lu Chase, Iridium Project, Craig De Sousa, Lindsay, Fiona, Dino Moran, Vanessa Holliday, Andrew Lee, Good Hope FM, Lucretia Splinters, Simon Green, Daniel Courtney and Michelle Christine an AMAZING amount, which I have not forgotten about and will in fact not simply put aside. It is Karma Lounge and Kilimanjaro 4 Kids that led to the result of pure serendipity for which the dictionary meaning is ‘a happy unexpected experience’ or something along those lines anyways. I now know I was made for making a difference and my purpose is in music and my lesson in all that is that I can be more than one thing and that life is never a case of one or the other.

There really is a middle ground out there somewhere, there really is such a thing called a happy medium and you can have the best of both worlds and have your bread buttered on both sides, as long as it isn’t destructive and you first do no harm then its pretty simple, pick up the knife and butter the bread on both sides then eat it and better still enjoy it. If you worked for and earned that bread and butter then you reserve the right to butter it any which way you like but consider those who have less. I feel as if I am already living my dream and I am not even half way to reaching my potential. I opened my eyes. I woke up one day and told myself something that I already knew and though I had been putting into action, but I had no idea. The concept of really going with the follow and trusting your instinct and let life take you where you need to be instead of fighting the process and going to where you think you need to be. What you want isn’t always what you need. But by tapping in you realise there is a time and a place for everything.

I have realised I am not an angel and it was never intended for me to be one or I would have been born with wings and a halo. I am in fact a human being and this is my life, it is a gift for me to love. I live out loud and I have and will continue to live life to the full. I now choose to do things in my life which are constructive and apply the concept of all in good measure where ever possible. I am driven to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children and I am in a position to be able to plant the seeds that will grow in order to make this dream a reality. Music is a powerful platform that makes so much possible for a dream like that.

I have married music and this is my partner for life. If ever I find someone who makes me feel what music can make me feel on a daily basis I will marry that man tomorrow, I think it would be a pretty big man to match that bar. I decided a long time ago never to settle for second best in my life and if I ever find someone better than music that’s the day I find my soul mate. Until that day the only man in my life is my son and the only love of my life is music and this is what I live for. I want to work with music, be a mom and make a difference in the lives of children who don’t have a mom or whose moms don’t want to be a mom and in some cases help other moms, without a doubt in my mind I want to love my mom more and share with her, I want her to know she is special and that she means the world to me. That is my dream, and I am pretty close to living my dream or getting to a point where something has got to give for that to happen.

I have dedicated that past year and in actual fact the past 3 years to this vision. I have worked myself to the bone through blood, sweat and tears and that is meant literally. The past 15 years of my life has prepared me for what I now know I want to do with my life. It was at the age of 27 I knew something needed to change and at 28 it was only when I figured out what I want to do with my life. For this I feel blessed because I know a lot of people 50 years and even 60 years old who still don’t know what they want to do with their lives and others stuck in the same job they have been in for the last 30 years married to women they no longer love and life has become the epitome of ground hog day. I can only be grateful for my life and I often catch myself saying how I really do love my life.

Life is my no means perfect and it has its daily challenges and motions but I wake up every day excited about the possibilities and prospects that each day could bring my way. I only end up creating more work for myself, but when you are in love with what you do then this is never a problem. I read somewhere that if you have conflict with how you make your money no amount of money can compensate, which actually means you could be poor as a church mouse but it would probably end up making you as humble if you truly deserve it and use your opportunities wisely. Music is one of the most influential platforms available.

I am now working with some of the most amazing artists and producers in the world including local South African artists through to a double Grammy winner which I never in a million years thought would be happening, I am recording lyrics and vocals of my own material and run a business which is slowly starting to become recognised. I work with some of the best music and entertainment brands and names in the world and I am learning huge amounts on a daily basis. I am no stranger to music and clubs have aquired a solid network consisting of friends, family and business associates that I feel so blessed to have in my life, God knows where I would be without so many of them. I have found a world of people that see potential in my way of thinking and who I am and this is one of the greatest gifts of all.

Everyday with Inrichmint there is a challange and there is a reward, it fires me up and it leaves me feeling drained. Much like any other relationship, exactly like being married huh? Make sense now lol? But I love it, I love what I have been given the oppertunity to do and what I stumbled across as a career. I totally by accident feel in love with an industry, some of its people, and after all these years I am still in love with the music. I love the business side of it and I love what I see myself being able to do, the potential for myself as a person and a business owner. It truely is my first love considering I fell in love for the first time at 18 and later nearly married the man, which is fair. It sounds stupid, but I am pretty sure there are more than a dozen people I can find that can relate to this feeling on some level.

What makes music such a wow medium in terms of influencing people’s lives is that people, since forever, are drawn to music. It is a natural want to dance and make music, beat a drum or tap a stone. It gives voice and interpretation a different form and adds a dimension to how we communicate. When people in industries like the music industry are given a platform through which to influence other people’s lives I feel it is important to figure how you are going to do that but before anyone can decide that, that exact fact needs to be figured out first. There are so many people that live their lives purely for the sake of personal gain and there is plenty of it in music, modelling and film, more so than any other industries in the world but in the same breath there are celebrity models that do protest fur and there are actors that do work with UNICEF and there are actresses that are involved with the UN and these people do use there fortunate circumstances and influence to positively influence the lives of other people.

I know one thing for sure. I continue to meet some of the most amazing people in my life. I am inspired by countless people I have met throughout my life. I owe so much to so many people. And A HUGE thank you to all those people who have changed my life, influeanced me and played a part in who I am today. I am making something of my life and life will only get better and that I will never loose the desire to be a good mother and to help other children, this is all that I know for sure other than the fact that I will pay tax and I will die. I will doi what it takes to achieve my goals and reach for my dreams. I have a huge respect for artists, producers and sound engineers and I will continue to support what makes me happiest other than a little boys smile ...

KILIMANJARO 4 KIDS

CURRENT STATUS REPORT

Hello to all. I hope this finds everyone good and well. The time has come for the first of the Kilimanjaro 4 Kids news letters. This is full of information about the current status of the project, advice for participants and information about what is currently happen in terms of support and future plans for the project.

The date for the Kilimanjaro Trip has been moved to the end of November; please check the attached Travel Plan for the rescheduled dates. Should there be any problems and you are not able to make it, please let me know as soon as possible.

Paul Kwitek (CA), Daniel Sidorowicz (CA) and Adam (CA) are working on the Kilimanjaro 4 Kids promo video that will be screened in London in September at the Inrichmint Recordings launch party, celebrating the release of the first 2 compilation albums from the label. This is also the crew who will be filming the Kilimanjaro 4 Kids documentary together with our two front-of-camera ladies Leila Smith (SA) and Claire Commins (SA), there is talk of throwing some extra boy trouble into that mix though.

The first 3 albums to be released by Inrichmint Recordings will take the proceeds and donate to Kilimanjaro 4 Kids supporting the 4 organisations we are involved with. All of the artists involved in those 3 albums have donated music for this purpose and will not receive royalties or payment from the 3 compilations. All money from these albums will go directly to supporting that which is now becoming a global project receiving a fair amount of attention in the music circles from around the world through current online social networks.

In the spirit of SA and sticking in that direction of thought Christopher Wilde (SA producer) & Lu Chase (SA vocalist) have exclusively mastered a track, ‘STREET LIFE’ that will feature on the “REAL HOUSE’ album. “STREET LIFE’ has a music video in concept design that will be shot and premiered at the label launch in September. The albums are “REAL HOUSE’ mixed by Victor Simonelli (US), “TECH AFFAIR’ mixed by LeRon & Yves (NL) and to be released after November ‘AFRICAN TEMPO” ft Double Grammy Winner Eric Mouquet from Deep Forest (FR) mixed by Paul Kwitek (CA). Collectively the albums feature producers and artists from 8 Countries in 3 different genres of electronic music. The albums will be released digitally through various online music stores.

Inrichmint together with a corporate and business specialist in London are currently working on the pitch for BBC, Discovery and MTV in regards to buying the documentary that comes out of Kilimanjaro 4 Kids. The follow up to this project will be a series that comes out of the upcoming World Tour in 2010. The concept behind the next series is ‘UPLIFT BY GETTING DOWN’ and that being the name of the documentary. “UPLIFT BY GETTING DOWN” will focus on raising funds for organisations through the electronic music industry.

Music and events is an incredibly powerful platform that is able to influence a huge number of people. There is an international demand for quality music and the industry itself happens to contain a fairly large amount of people that want to make a difference in the world. Considering this Inrichmint uses this platform for involvement and promotion of community development, social upliftment and positive change, thereby creating avenues through which Inrichmint can give back to the community on an on going basis while still remaining an influential business within the music industry by representing world class artists and brands that are focuses on providing world class music to music lovers from around the world.

Now would be a good time to purchase a good pair of hiking boots to start walking in. Please ensure that you get yourself a decent pair of shoes that will not damage your feet and will rather protect them while giving you great support. The more water resistant the shoes the better and please remember that you will be wearing really thick socks at some point as well as needing room for movement so do not buy them too small. There are various brands and makes of hiking boots on the market; however I would suggest something with ankle support. You are welcome to get sponsorship for your own gear getting others involved in the project along the way.

Inrichmint is currently in the process of arranging a world tour for 2010. Inrichmint together with a group of volunteers, a number of the participants combined with various companies will in the year following the Kilimanjaro expedition look at achieving our goal of raising a million for the 4 organisations that the project is focused on. The Inrichmint World Tour is one way in which we plan on assisting and supporting this project by taking 20% of the profit from each of the gigs in each country and donating it to Kilimanjaro 4 Kids. Inrichmint will take on tour some of the worlds biggest brands and names that are supported around the global by thousands of people. Through this we have a platform through which we are able to donate to and create exposure aimed at Kilimanjaro 4 Kids.

We have managed to find a national software and sponsor, PX Software (SA), which will donate software and accessories while Nintendo (SA) are looking at donating Wii Consoles for competitions within schools around South Africa. The prizes will be set up for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in various age groups and the competition will be focused on fundraising and awareness in schools. This way we are able to get children involved in social upliftment, support charity and understand the value of child related organisations.

Inrichmint is looking to host a charity benefit on the 7thh of July. This event will be in support of Kilimanjaro 4 Kids and a fundraiser for the project. There will be an auction on the night that will include cases of wine and other goodies. There will be a couple of DJs on decks supplying us with some entertainment and belly dancers to add to the mix. We might have some live artists making magic on their various instruments. Tickets for the night are R50.00 each which will go to Kilimanjaro 4 Kids and the theme for the evening is 1920’s Gatsby.

There are talks about Truth regarding a Kilimanjaro 4 Kids benefit at the popular Johannesburg Club (SA). The night in early December would be when the participants return from Tanzania and attempting to summit Kilimanjaro, the tallest free standing Mountain in the world. Amongst the participants we have some of the most respected names in electronic music and we have an opportunity to, first of all, host an international event that can create huge exposure around the project and secondly raise money for a worthwhile cause. December being peak season is the perfect opportunity to host international nights in South Africa.

So after months of hard work we are making some headway but there is still so much more we need to make this happen. We feel that everyone is able to do something if we all have a gift. We all have skills that we are able to lend to benefit a worthwhile cause. Donating your time and skills for the purpose of supporting child related organisations will help in making a difference in.

We are looking for entertainers in Cape Town and Johannesburg skilled in stilt walking and fire. We are also looking for a costume hire company in both cities. If you have a contact in either of these areas or the person to talk to would be you then please contact us as soon as you can.

Inrichmint is looking for film equipment companies to get involved in this project to donate use of their equipment. Filming will take place in England, Canada, South Africa and Tanzania. If you have contacts in this area or you yourself can help with anything along the lines of film equipment please contact us.

Inrichmint Recordings launches in 2009 ahead of the companies first mjor charity project Kilimanjaro 4 Kids, a project supported by global music industry, sports professionals and adventurers. Inrichmint Recordings will be focused on signing, producing, compiling and releasing some of the worlds best electronic and digital tunes. While growing with the vision of delivering to the globe world class electronic music it seems the natural next step in a fast growing business to bring into the forefront a record label that provides singles, albums and compilations brought to you by those artists and brands represented by Inrichmint and those we work with independently or support without end. INRICHMINT ARTIST MANAGEMENT ROSTER 09

Inrichmint Artist Management is the Inrichmint division that has become better known as I Am. The I Am Artists as a collective are a group of musicians and DJs we work with predominantly on an exclusive basis, while there are a handful of them that remain non exclusive. Inrichmint is approached on a regular basis by artists from around the world for representation, many of which are prepared to sign exclusively with the agency. Inrichmint Artist Management have selected the best of these and combined them with those talents we endorse and support to add to the Inrichmint I AM artists roster.

The talent on our books cover a wide variety of sounds and flavours within the electronic music genre spinning Trip Hop, Chicago House, Tech House, Minimal, Afro House, Fidget, Electro, Acid Jazz, Soulful, Sexy & Vocal House and by the end of 2010 with have introduced a Dub Step and DnB aspect to the Inrichmint Artist Management roster.

The Inrichmint Solo DJs and duos are some of the best the world has to offer coming from the various corners of the globe bringing with the world class music and entertainment. Many of these DJs are producers in their own right and some of them hold the cards that strengthen play where by owning their own successful record labels, and in some cases more than one label.

Between them there is experience that spreads over the past two decades of dance music and they have taken their skills to countless countries on all continents with some of them individually having played over 22 countries while collectively closer on 30. As a collective they have over a centuries worth of experience and have entertained crowds of up to 1000000 at the Love Parade and 1000s more over the years on the golden island of Ibiza.

We are growing by the week but I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our talent to you. These boys and girls vary in style, genre and location. We currently are representing artists and brands from Canada, Spain, South Africa, Poland, Turkey, Ibiza, Netherlands, Wales, England and the United States. THE ROSTER UP DATES

Inrichmint has updated the roster to what it currently looks like including our live performance percussionist, vocalists and saxophonist as well as our artists that are exclusive and non exclusive to I AM (Inrichmint Artist Management). I AM has over the past grown from strength to strength having introduced to our roster double Grammy award winning artists, Beatport number 1s and Grammy nominees, label owners and international names. The roster has been divided into various genres with some artists appearing in more than one category. Ahmet Sendil has made himself available for the up coming Inrichmint World Tour in 2010 and we are truly blessed to have such talent on board.

Between them there is experience that spreads over the past two decades of dance music and they have taken their skills to countless countries on all continents with some of them individually having played over 22 countries while collectively closer on 30. As a collective they have over a centuries worth of experience and have entertained crowds of up to 1000000 at the Love Parade and 1000s more over the years on the golden island of Ibiza.

No More Nonsense

After a serious bad luck bender I am sitting here thinking about the past March month and the happenings there of and thought I would take full advantage of the fact that I can tell the world, whether or not they want to hear about it, someone might find it interesting enough to ready though.

I arrived back in Cape Town 5 weeks ago after 10 months in a quiet little seaside town on the west coast of South Africa, Knysna. Now, nothing much ever happens in Knysna but it was exactly what I needed and where I needed to be at the time. It gave me the opportunity to focus on my business and change of career from qualified counsellor in corporate to international electronic music events solutions. I packed my boxes and bags, left my little boy with my mom and made my way down the coast (5-6 hours by car) to make a life for us back in the city. And looking at it now … thank god above my little boy is with my mom … cause looking back over the past month; it is the best place for him for now.

On arrival in Cape Town I did the most pathetic thing ever. I went out at 10:30pm to pick up a pizza after just finishing a full days work of 14 hours or so. I managed to leave with the food and leave my handbag behind with celphone, 1000 bucks and my mates house keys. I called right away when I realised I didn’t have my bag and it was now where to be found. I must add though that this was the 3rd phone stolen in a space of 2 months. Not impressed with myself or the staff at the pizza shop who pinched my bag and now locked out the house I stayed over at a previous flame that was with me at the time. Hmmm …. Wise? Probably not, but my options where limited.

In the space of the past 5 weeks I have shifted myself 5 times while house hunting. I lost 3 possible places to stay due to people just being plain messed up. I did find a place to stay last Monday which I moved into, a lovely house, communal living with music foondies, almost like a dream come true. However, I was kicked out and moved out within 5 days for being anti living with drug dealers. And who can blame me, as I really do have way too much to loose at this stage of my life. So last Friday I packed my things and moved out/on.

Friday night I was out with my good friend and business associate to a 40s swing party jazzing the night away till around 2am at which point we went home to change out of the feather bowers and kitten heels into our clubbing attire and we were off the Cape Towns infamous Long Street from a minimal session. 4am came and the lights came on with it, the music came to a dead stop and we were outta there. Stopped off for a quick visit with our new found mates, didn’t stay long and at 5:30 made our way home once again.

Saturday morning, a little before 6am, we parked outside the house and got ready wind down with coffee and chill session. We were then attacked and mugged outside her house with the threat of a gun. The real scary part is the fact that these thugs that mug actually had a car. How blessed are we? How lucky are we? They could have forced us into the house or worse us two ladies could have been taken, raped and left for dead somewhere and worse still we, in this country, wouldn’t make the front page or evening news. So we escaped with our lives which there is plenty gratitude for. Things can be replaced, people can not.

They got away with Tammy’s digital camera, Zippo lighter and yet another celphone of mine. At this point I am traumatised and beyond annoyed. They also got my ATM card. I didn’t have my stop card and didn’t think they could crack the pin as its ATM debit not a credit card. We spent most of the day in tears between the two of us. And on Sunday went to report the matter to the police. We managed to identify the guy who robbed us through police photos and there is currently a warrant out for his arrest.

We then went, as instructed by the police, to have a stiff drink and proceeded until the sun went down, taking it slow as the last thing we needed at this stage was to be arrested for drunk driving. On our way home …. Wait for it ….. the brakes fail … with us in the car! Lucky or blessed that we were in a small narrow side road at the time and not on the freeway? A little bit of both me thinks!!

On Monday morning I was off to the bank to get my cards sorted. I walked in and stood in a que. My pet hate, ques. It is 11am and one teller working enquiries on a Monday morning …. Unimpressed I obviously threw my toys out of the cot. Eventually I get the front of the line and explain my situation over the weekend with being mugged (violated) and request info as to when the last ATM withdrawal as made. Saturday morning at 8am says the teller. WHAT!!?? The F***ers emptied my account of close on 4.5k! Yea, you heard me…. Nearly 4 and a half thousand SA bucks!! It gets better …. As I didn’t stop the card in time and the CCTV footage can’t give a positive ID thanks scarf, hoody and hat the bank will not refund the funds.

By Monday night I was sick as dog with a serious dose of the flue. Obviously the stress caught up with me. The past month had taken its toll, bearing in mind that through all of this Inrichmint needed to operate, Inrichmint being a small 7 division international business. I have been in bed the past few days now and have had the time to reflect somewhat.

How much bad luck can one person have … Karmic debt is a bitch. Seriously …. lol. But I have decided to emerge stronger and keep living life to the full as it takes more than that to keep a thick skinned good chika down. Bring it on life ….. It can’t get much worse … from here on out it can only get better! No More Nonsense.

Inrichmint World Tour

Launching in 2010 the Inrichmint World Tour starts globe trotting to a different city in a different country almost every week from May – Nov promoting I Am artists and artists independent of Inrichmint as well as international venues, brands, clubs, labels and locations.

The Inrichmint Crews will consist of 4 Packages. Inrichmint is now representing 4 of the worlds top club nights and brands. Smartie Partie (London, Ibiza), Eden (Ibiza), Blend (London/Spain), Reel House (UK/Dubai). The Inrichmint Crews together with these 4 brands will be braving the globe for the World Tour from May – Nov 2010.

Inrichmint will cover 28 countries over 6 months with a total of 56 gigs over the duration of the Inrichmint World Tour. Packages available for the world tour will include nights from Ibiza’s Eden, Smartie Partie and Reel House Tours. 20% of the profits from this tour will go to the 4 child related organisations in South Africa with whom Inrichmint works.

Commitment As A Badge

Now that I’m getting into this whole blogging mission I am embracing the fact that I have the human right to free expression. It’s a radical right. Especially when you tale into consideration that there are other rights that come into play concerning defamation of character and infringement of privacy. In the middle of this journey I have embarked on with and as Inrichmint there are so many aspects of life and business that have come to my attention that I was completely unaware of or oblivious to before the birth of Inrichmint.

The various social networking sites available for people make it possible promote a cause, label, brand or product. In doing so it gives us the opportunity to be able to belong to certain groups and causes in support. I have found, however, that it has also become a case of wearing commitment like a badge.

There are hundreds of groups for one to choose from, to belong to, and to acquire information from, most of which on most peoples profiles only for show. I doubt even a fraction of the people on networking sites actually take the time to read the smallest amount of information posted on these pages. Events are posted and people will gladly RSVP without a clue of what the event is about or where it is, and not even as a gesture of support but simply to wear the attending announcement as a badge much in the same way that they wear belong to a group or cause as a badge.

It’s actually a small form of disrespect shown to a group of people who take their time to share their lives, vision and passion with the world. People invite other people to share in their experiences or attend a shindig of sorts and it is warped by a majority who actually feel feathers for anything and even less so what it matters to RSVP saying you’re going to be somewhere and actually be there.

Commitment as a badge…

Moving Day

Moving day is always a mission. In the past month I have come to dislike it even more. I arrived back in Cape Town after a good few years of being unsettled, uprooted and pretty much moving all over the place from SA to England and back again with a stop in Botswana, Swaziland and a couple of others along the way. I have had enough now. So this moving day I am YAY YAY YAY! At some point we all get to the point of thinking ... enough ... is feking enough now! The fact that I have been on the move and moving my base has now come to the point of actually getting to me. There could be a number of reasons for this I think, but, the one that most calls out to me at this stage is ... ‘maybe I am finally growing up’. It’s taken me going on almost 30 years to get to that point. Some people would consider it about time while other people are thinking ... 'well I'm 60, and I still don’t know what to do with my life.' One thing I can say... at least I have found what I want to do with my life and I feel it’s about time to start building a base. Once the travel bug has bitten you, there is no going back, but there certainly is a way of making life easier for yourself, which is where your base comes into it. Also having had a little boy of my very own come into my life 4 years ago, it has not only become a want to have a home base but a need and desire also. I chose to change my career at the age of 27 from one extreme to the next going from therapist to the music and entertainment industry. But I fell in love with my work, I liked it before, which worked for me, this sets me on fire. Hardest work I have had to do in my life, because I do work hard, but it’s by far not the toughest work I have had to do over the years. With this comes the perk of getting opportunities to travel with my work, which I obviously love the prospect of. But it has become increasing clear in my life that the time has come fore me to ground myself. I am not there yet. I have a wild spirit, but for the first time in a long long time I desire to have a home base. This moving day takes me one step closer to my ultimate vision. I have realised in order to grow and move forward in life you need to root yourself somewhere.

What I Really Think

I ask myself from time to time if it really matters what I think or say. I end up asking myself do I care what anyone else thinks anymore than I care what they say? The answer is I care only if I want to make an impression and I dont care what they think under any other circumstances. It depends on what they say. If they say something I believe is the smallest amount of bullshit I have ever heard, well then the answer is pretty simple ... I really dont want to hear it. If, on the other hand, they are saying something I believe is true and relevant, and hopefully interesting, I am all ears. There is also the situation where I am asked to listen. Listen is nothing at all like thinking or saying. I hardly ever do anything I am 'forced' to do, listening included. However, I can pretend to listen and block it all out, going into an almost trance like state. Then when I need to listen and I know it is good for me, its work, but I know its good for me, so I do it. What about the case where I have a friend who needs to borrow an ear, again, I am all ears for lending. And when I want to listen its because my attention is caught in what catches my attention in interest. I also read once upon a time that we have two ears and one mouth to listen more than we speak. Then, of course, there is in everyones life a point were it leads us to thinking about the deaf and the blind and how that possibly makes any sense at all. Frankie Wild made music by feeling vibration. Once a fully functional disfuntional DJ at the peak of his career playing the heat of Ibiza he could hear perfectly fine. He had plenty friends, a gorgeous wife, he was at the top of his career and he started loosing it in everyway, including on the hearing front. He went deaf and his wife went off with his best friend while he was left with the wheels coming off the bus and his career falling to pieces. He met a woman, his sign langauge teacher, in Spain and she taught him how to feel the music, feel the vibrations through his body. I would call that feeling the music with every fibre of your being. He went on to make a number one album which topped the Ibiza and world charts without hearing using the sense of feeling, feeling the music. That is the epitome of pure passion, drive, desire and determination. His returned to the Ibiza club scene and went on to disappear in that first season of his comeback. Its amazing how real stories inspire and teach us in different ways, and furthure more how things have a different value for people. Sentimental objects are never replaced.
